| Orphan Sponsorship |

“Because of you (my sponsor) I am no longer having that feeling of being an orphan.” Inspired by the stories of survival, A Light For Zimbabwe (ALFZ) now proudly sponsors 24 orphans. One such child, orphaned at 8 months, was told he was “dull” by his half-siblings who raised him. He started Grade I at 8 years & is now # 1 in his Form 4 (Grade 11) class at Chikore High. ![]() Orphaned Children |

“Education is the key and the backbone of my life. Without it, I die stuck in poverty.” Sponsorship means that we pay school fees, buy school uniforms and assist with basic needs of staple foods and personal necessities. The children range in age from 7 to 19 and are in grades 2 – 12. Some live in remote areas and walk many miles to school over rugged terrain. Some live in child- headed families with the eldest child struggling to provide food, clothing and shelter for his/her siblings while still attending school. The children sell vegetables or firewood for $ .50 / bundle or they do odd jobs to raise school fees. “I am free to tell you (my sponsor) the good and the bad of my life being the closest friend I have.“ ![]() Litte Boy Orphan |

The youth of Zimbabwe are vulnerable and may fall victim to peer pressure, temptations or exploitations if they are forced to drop out of school because they have no school fees. Education is an empowering tool giving children the potential to become self reliant by getting a job or going to college. From a high school orphan: “Your past is stationary. You can leave it behind as you turn to walk toward the light.” We believe strongly that in helping even one child, we are impacting the lives of many. A child who has no money for exam fees is a child left behind. Many more orphans are waiting for sponsors. ![]() Soccer Brings Smiles |
